“Everybody wants to feel and to feel safe. And we can all help make the world a better place in our own way. We should always keep love in our hearts, and look after one another. We should always share what we have, and we should stand up for people who are not treated fairly.” Yoko Ono Lennon (Imagine, 2017)

IMAGINE is a wonderful book about peace and mindfulness. The book is illustrated and based on the song Imagine by John Lennon. This book which is illustrated by Jean Jullien and includes a foreword by John Lennon’s late wife, Yoko Ono Lennon. This beautiful children’s book is about one little pigeon who sets off on a journey to spread peace, love and hope throughout the world. With the lyrics from the song, Imagine, the pictures connect well with the text. This book is an ideal book to read anytime, but even more appropriate now with the unexplained violence and suffering in our own country.

As you are reading this book, discuss the words and what they mean. For example, the words “Image all the people living for today.” What does that mean? How do we live for today? With the way that we are always in a rush, it’s hard to think about the hear and now. We are always thinking about “what’s next?” and “What’s tomorrow?” Discuss the word “peace” and what that means for you and your child.
