Becoming Beautiful

About the book, Becoming Beautiful

I was originally contacted a couple of weeks ago by Tarang Rawat, author of Becoming Beautiful. After watching her trailer of the book, I was immediately captivated by the topic and mission of the book. So many young girls grow up with a negative self image and constantly compare themselves to others. Becoming Beautiful is a book about positive self image and celebrating the differences between others. I love supporting other authors and their dream of developing children’s literature that can help others felt more positive and confident about themselves.

Kickstarter Campaign

Don’t miss her kickstarter campaign, which will be starting soon! Kickstarter campaigns are a wonderful way of raising money for different products that authors want to publish or produce. Kickstarter helped my book, A Tale of The Monkey Balloon become published and my co author, illustrator and I are forever grateful!

Author Interview with Tarang Rawat

When does your Kickstarter begin?

Kickstarter for my children’s book Becoming Beautiful will launch on February 13th, it will run for a month to publicize and capture pre-orders for the book.

What inspired you to write Becoming Beautiful?

I wrote Becoming Beautiful for my daughter after I searched and realized that there weren’t any books available for young children that spoke about developing positive body-image and self-love. This is a prevalent issue among young children today, studies have shown that children as young as 5 years of age are concerned about body image and understand the concept of dieting! I did not want my daughter to face these challenges so I wrote this book. Also, I felt the need to share this message with other parents and adults so that we can together raise a generation of strong, independent girls who see their true beauty.

What was the process like in writing and illustrating this book?

I had self-published a children’s book before called Trains from A-Z which is available on amazon now, so I was quite familiar with the overall process of writing and publishing. However, with any new creative endeavor the journey is unique so it was a very fulfilling experience bringing to life the story that’s both entertaining and empowering for children. I also had the fortune to work with a very talented artist and illustrator from UK- Elena Napoli who did the illustrations for the book and brought life to the characters and story.

What do you want young children to learn from this book?

Firstly, I would like for the young audience to enjoy reading this book. Secondly, I am hoping that by reading Alena and her friends story girls would view themselves with a new perspective filled with self-belief and self-love; and know that they are beautiful just as they are.

Tell me about your Kickstarter campaign.

The Kickstarter campaign for the book runs from February 13th to March 13th.  It is a 30-day campaign to gather support from the community about this important issue and raise funds for the printing and production of the book.
